Brief description:

29 poems about hiking, fishing and interacting with the wild, both alone and with others. The author explores the full range of emotion while coming to terms with the natural world. Taut, rhythmic verse with an emphasis on the mysteries of death and regeneration. New poems along with selections from two previous collections.
A poem from the book:
BOREAL FOREST

Move slowly through
this evergreen world
full of ferns, moss
and spruce mist.
Smell the clean truth
of balsam and peat.
Feel the cool dampness
beading upon your skin.
This dark forest
urges you to abandon
all pretense, to accept
the ways of slick, gray rocks
and gnarled roots.
Pay attention now.
Learn the magic
of being boreal.
Silence runs deeper
than self-importance.
Stillness has the power
of an everlasting dream.
