BOREAL FORESTAbout the author:Move slowly through
this evergreen world
full of ferns, moss
and spruce mist.
Smell the clean truth
of balsam and peat.
Feel the cool dampness
beading upon your skin.
This dark forest
urges you to abandon
all pretense, to accept
the ways of slick, gray rocks
and gnarled roots.
Pay attention now.
Learn the magic
of being boreal.
Silence runs deeper
than self-importance.
Stillness has the power
of an everlasting dream.
