WOOD THRUSH BOOKS -- PHILOSOPHY JOURNAL

STRAY THOUGHTS
Excerpts from a Philosophy Journal

by Walt McLaughlin
Wood Thrush Books, 2009
chapbook, 26 pages
$7.00

WTB catalog blurb:

This random collection of musings has been culled from a philosophy journal kept between 1998 and 2005 -- a critical period in the development of the author´s worldview. While most of the concepts presented here are given better treatment elsewhere in more formal essays, the brevity of these excerpts makes them accessible, providing a certain transparency to an unconventional way of seeing things.
Excerpts from the chapbook:
I feel a definite sense of power when I start up my car and motor down the road, but my pedestrian thoughts seem to carry more weight than my automotive ones.

At some point, life asserted itself into an inanimate universe. And that, no doubt, it the most religious statement anyone can make.

Where does love fit into the greater scheme of things and why can't it be reduced to a mathematical formula?

If you want to be right, then you don't want to be real. The truth always gets in the way of being correct.

Beneath order, a layer of chaos. Beneath that chaos, another layer of order. When do we get to the bottom of things?
